Crafting website design to reflect the author’s or speaker’s message allows them to put their best foot forward
How aesthetics can support a client’s values and work. Or, how poetry touches stillness amid our chaotic world
Philomene Kocher published her first poetry book, Singing in the Silo, in 2014. This collection represents over 20 years of her work as a haiku poet.
To offer her book for sale online she decided to have a website. With encouragement, she included a blog on her site and occasionally shares new poems as well as information about upcoming events.
Creating a website was a huge step for me, and Leslie brought patience and expertise to the entire process – from helping me select a domain name, through the to-ing and fro-ing as the text and images were added, and into the final editing.
I am impressed with her artistry, and with how carefully she matched the design to the essence of my poetry.
—Philomene Kocher, poet and author
Although her work has appeared in journals and anthologies, and she has given many readings, creating a website was still a big leap. We worked together to find the right balance of subtlety and strength to reflect and honor the elegance of the poetic form of haiku.
The color palette, fonts and content formatting result in a website that, in the words of a friend, “is absolutely beautiful. Its zen vibe is a perfect online reflection of your poetry.”

A place to connect online and in your home
Judy Miller’s new book, Hand Spun Hope, Making a Difference in Rural South Africa, as well as her transformational coaching work needed an online presence.
The book and coaching provide her with ways to spread a message of hope.
The stories of her South African adventures, including her ongoing time with the Mapusha Weaving Cooperative, are filled with the many ways that hope and help brought change and inspiration to one small village. She is available to speak to groups and would enjoy the opportunity to spread her message.
It was a long and winding process to complete my website and it was Leslie’s skill and patience that pulled it off. When we began, I knew I needed a website but that was about all I knew. She guided me gracefully and the product is truly an expression of me and my work as a coach, author, speaker. I give her a 5-star reccomendation, I don’t think you could find a better guide in the website world!
—Judy Miller
The finished website reflects the heart-centered simplicity, colorfulness and beauty that represents the interweaving of Judy’s and the Mapusha Weavers’ lives over more than a dozen years. They connected through a love of fiber arts. These home spun fibers entwine hearts, offer inspiration and change lives in many ways.
